Reflections about the seminar „Red Year“

October 11th, 2011

In my opinion this seminar was useful not only for history teachers, but also for any person, who is
not indifferent to the history of the three Baltic States and nowadays world‘s events.

I have learnt about the exploration of people in Guiana (South America) from the presentation „My
Identity“ made by Tarig Bachus (Sweden) .

I have found the workshop of usage the historical resources in learning process especially
beneficial. What is more, I have never been to Vepriai before, so I think it is worth to visit this
district with my pupils, as well.

The presentations of foreigners were informative and broadening our minds about teaching the
particular historic periods in Estonia, Latvia and Sweden.

Especially valuable were visits to Tuskulėnai and Customs museums.

For me , personally, excursion in Ukmerge and meeting the only alive Jewish witness as well as
meeting Lithuanian partisans was the peak of the seminar.

I think the film „Red Year“ should be shown to all teachers in all schools of Lithuania, as it is very
informative and realistic.

I am very thankful for the organisers of the seminar for given such an opportunity to participate in
a very well arranged event.
